FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

When will I get my order?

We will work quickly to ship your order as soon as possible. Once your order has shipped, you will receive an email with further information. Delivery times vary depending on your location but 2-4 days is normal for UK orders.

How long does a tin last for?

With daily use, our 60g tins typically last around 2 to 3 months. However, it depends on how much and how often you apply.

How much product should I use?

Every pit is different! Start small, a small pea sized amount shared between the 2 pits is often enough. If you are finding you still get some body odour, use a little extra. It’s best to use the smallest amount that works for you, that way it lasts longer.

Is Pit Butter vegan and cruel-free?

Yes, our products are vegan and cruelty-free, we ensure all our suppliers never use animals to test their products and we never test our products on animals. In fact, we develop our products through feedback from real human customers.

How natural is your product?

Our base formula is made with 100% natural ingredients. 86.5% of our main ingredients are certified organic. The active ingredients (magnesium and zinc) are from naturally occurring sources.

We try to fragrance our products using natural ingredients such as essential oils where possible, but sometimes we have to add a bit of synthetic fragrance to get the butter smelling just like a high end perfume.

Our 100% natural range is just that - 100% natural.

Our Pit-Butter + fine fragrance range is 97-99.9% of natural origin, depending on the variant.

I am a sweaty person, will Pit Butter stop me from sweating?

Our deodorant isn’t an antiperspirant and does not contain aluminium salts. We believe sweating is a natural and essential body function. Instead of blocking sweat, our formula helps prevent odour, keeps your underarms soft and cared for, and absorbs moisture using gentle, effective ingredients like tapioca starch. After switching to a natural deodorant many people find they start to sweat less.

Is there a transition period for this deodorant?

As you make the switch to a natural deodorant, it’s common to notice a little extra sweat or odour at first — don’t worry, that’s totally normal!

Everyone’s body adjusts to natural deodorant differently. Some people notice changes right away, while others take a little longer. It’s all part of your underarms finding a new, healthy balance of bacteria.

If you’re moving away from an antiperspirant, your skin is transitioning from ingredients that block sweat to ones that allow it to breathe naturally. If you’re switching from another deodorant, your skin might still need a short time to get used to the new ingredients. This can sometimes lead to a brief increase in odour or dampness — totally normal and temporary!

The great news? Your body finds its balance again within about two weeks.

I have a sensitive skin. Can I use your product?

Our deodorant has been formulated to be suitable for a wide range of skin types, we do not use common allergens such aluminium or bicarbonate of soda in our products, but some people are sensitive to some essential oils and fragrances we use.

If you’re interested in our product but a bit worried about a reaction, we would recommend our nude (unscented) variant as this is the most gentle. Please patch test first.

However, every skin differs. If ever your skin reacts, we recommend you stop using our product immediately and let us know you have had a reaction.

I am allergic to nuts. Can I use your product?

As we use Sweet Almond Oil in some of our products and Coconut Oil in all our products, we would have to recommend speaking to your Doctor before using our products.

Although coconuts are often grouped with nuts, they actually come from the palm family and are only distant relatives of tree nuts. This means many people with tree nut allergies can safely enjoy coconut. Still, since some individuals do react to it, it’s always wise to check with your doctor or allergist for advice specific to you :)

I have left my tin under the sun and now it’s melted. What should I do?

Pit Butter likes to be stored in a cool place and will melt if left in the sun. Its low melting point is by design and how it melts on contact with your skin!

But don’t worry! You can re-form the butter no problem by placing in the fridge or freezer. If it has separated too, it is best to take a clean, dry implement and throughly stir the mixture first.

Is your packaging recyclable?

We use an aluminium tin which is fully recyclable and reusable.

The lid contains an EPE (Expanded Polyethylene) foam lid liner which you will need to remove before recycling the tin. This liner can be recycled depending on your local options. Please check with your local recycling centre or municipal website to see if they accept EPE foam. We are actively looking for alternative lid liners that are more widely recyclable or compostable.

Before recycling though, please take a moment to see if it can be reused or repurposed. Giving items a second life cuts down on waste and keeps them useful for longer :)

Where are your products made?

All of our products are handmade in small batches in Frome, U.K.

Can I put Pit Butter on my toast?

Oh you must really love our butter to want it on toast!

As much as we appreciate your love and curiosity, we would have to say no to that one. Our butter has only been approved safe for use on your pits and torso.
